Guthy-Renker acquires infomercial producer
10th Oct 07Guthy-Renker has announced they have recently acquired Lieberman Productions, a San Francisco-based infomercial producer.
The two firms have worked together for many years to promote Guthy-Renker's major brands including Proactiv Solution, Principal Secret and Sheer Cover.
Lieberman's infomercials and traditional commercials have featured many celebrities including Vanessa Williams, Cindy Crawford, Susan Lucci, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jessica Simpson.
"We hope that the deal will collapse barriers between two independent companies so that we can work together to build brands faster and more profitably," said Greg Renker, a principal of Guthy-Renker, along with Bill Guthy.
The transaction, which is expected to close at year end, will see Lieberman CEO Lenny Lieberman join the ownership group at Guthy-Renker and be appointed to the company's board.
Lieberman Productions will continue to operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Guthy-Renker in San Francisco, where Lieberman employs 85 people.
